Legal Requirements

We can assist with all the legal requirements for you to get married in St. Lucia. There is no residency required to get married in St. Lucia; however, it does take 1 to 2 days to process your marriage license application. We ask you to send us photocopies of all the relevant documents in the list below, so that our lawyers can prepare the paperwork in advance. We will then arrange for you to meet with the lawyer during our Pre-Wedding Consultation meeting to sign the legal documentation when you arrive in St. Lucia.

The documents that are required for you to obtain a marriage license in St Lucia are:

- Passport
- Birth Certificate
- Decree Absolute (if one of the parties is divorced)
- In the case of a widow/widower, a Death Certificate of spouse is required
- If a name has been changed, a Deed Poll is required
- If one of the parties is under the age of 18, evidence of consent of parents is required in the form of a sworn affidavit stamped by a Notary Public
- If any required documents are not in English, an authenticated translation must be provided

Express Service
To facilitate anyone not wishing to wait the normal period of time, an Express Service has recently been initiated by the Office of the Attorney General. There is an additional fee of US$100 for this service. This enables cruise ship passengers to get married on the day of your arrival in St. Lucia.
